School nurses play a vital role in maintaining student health and well-being. Their responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Maintaining student health records
- Performing state-mandated health screenings
- Administering doctor-prescribed medications
- Conducting nursing procedures
- Responding to illnesses and accidents
- Assisting physicians and dentists with school examinations
- Providing health counseling and referrals
- Conducting health-related classroom instruction
- Serving as consultants to parents and teachers on health-related matters

All full-time Central Cambria School District nurses meet state certification requirements, which include:
- Baccalaureate Degree
- Completion of a Pennsylvania Department of Education approved school nurse certification program
- 180 Continuing Education Units every 5 years
These qualifications ensure that our school nurses are well-prepared to provide high-quality care to our students.
