School nurses play a vital role in maintaining student health and well-being. Their responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Maintaining student health records
  • Performing state-mandated health screenings
  • Administering doctor-prescribed medications
  • Conducting nursing procedures
  • Responding to illnesses and accidents
  • Assisting physicians and dentists with school examinations
  • Providing health counseling and referrals
  • Conducting health-related classroom instruction
  • Serving as consultants to parents and teachers on health-related matters

All full-time Central Cambria School District nurses meet state certification requirements, which include:

  • Baccalaureate Degree
  • Completion of  a Pennsylvania Department of Education approved school nurse certification program
  • 180 Continuing Education Units every 5 years
